The denim Bermuda short is the celeb-approved trend we'll be rocking all summer long

When bike shorts came roaring back into fashion thanks to celebs like Kim Kardashian and Gigi Hadid, I was hesitant to embrace them into my wardrobe. Now that it’s been a few seasons and they’re still enjoying a moment in the spotlight, it’s only natural that their influence has made its way into other aspects of the fashion world too.

Denim is constantly changing and evolving to reflect current trends, and this season it appears that the longer length and fitted silhouette of bike shorts has infiltrated the latest denim styles. I’m a jeans and T-shirt kind of girl, and now that the Bermuda short has resurfaced after a lengthy hiatus, I’ve begun to rethink my stance on the bike shorts debate.

I’m jumping on the Bermuda short trend because it offers a more covered-up alternative to denim cutoffs that’s both comfortable and stylish. There’s something about the above-the-knee length and that feels refreshing after years of short shorts, and I for one am happy to add them back into my wardrobe.

This summer I’ve been styling my own denim Bermuda shorts (this currently sold-out pair from Aritzia) with a crisp white button-up shirt and strappy sandals for a dressed-up take on this trend, or with a simple graphic tee for casual weekend wear.

Although the jury’s still out on whether this is the start of a true fashion comeback, or a short-lived fad that influencers and fashion enthusiasts will move on from in a few months, I plan on wearing mine as much as possible until the weather starts to cool down.
