Girard-Perregaux’s Newest Laureato Watch Is Made From Lightweight Titanium
Turns out humans aren’t the only things that can lose weight for the summer.
Girard-Perregaux just dropped an all-new version of its classic Laureato watch, and for the first time it’s made from grade 5 titanium. The Swiss watchmaker first debuted the Laureato in 1975, which was notable for its octagonal bezel and integrated bracelet. In 2025, the beloved model will notch its milestone 50th anniversary. In the past 49 years, we’ve seen GP adapt the model in countless iterations, from ones with tinted sapphire crystal cases to a green ceramic version designed in collaboration with the luxury sports car manufacturer Aston Martin. But this is the first time the brand has used titanium for its groundbreaking model.

Previously, we’ve seen GP employ titanium in its newer Laureato Absolute line—a bolder, sportier, and more contemporary subset of the traditional Laureato launched just five years ago in 2019. Now, we get the bonus of the performance-driven, lightweight metal in the timeless design of the standard Laureato.
The Laureato Chronograph Ti49, fittingly takes its name from the element Titanium (Ti) and the model’s 49th year of production. The watch features a modern 42 mm build incorporating the traditional design language of the original 1975 model with a combination of an octagonal bezel atop a circle and a tonneau-shaped case, all of which give the watch a pleasing set of angles and depth. The choice of the particular alloy, grade 5 titanium, perfectly lends itself to the curvature of the Laureato Chronograph Ti49 with a juxtaposition of contrasting brushed and polished finishes. In addition, it provides the added benefits of being strong, ultra-lightweight, corrosion resistant, anti-magnetic, and hypoallergenic.
To further highlight the titanium construction, GP elected to maintain a monochromatic design throughout with gray snailed counters and a dial featuring a Clous de Paris pattern. The look is not only emblematic of luxury sport watches but also further enhances the depth, texture, and interest of the watch. The cohesive gray color scheme is extended to every detail, down to the PVD-treated baton hands and indexes. Inside, the Laureato Chronograph Ti49 is powered by the brand’s own self-winding caliber GP03300 movement.
The Laureato Chronograph Ti49 is priced at $19,400 and available today worldwide at all Girard-Perregaux retailers.
