Sarah McGriff was unboxing a new car seat for the airplane to go to Disney World when she turned around and noticed her 22-month-old daughter Anniston had placed chicken nuggets in her shoes

"I started laughing at first," McGriff, 30, tells PEOPLE exclusively, recalling seeing the nuggets in the shoes. "She was clearly done eating them, and so I thought that was how she was communicating that to me. But when I took them out of the shoes, she started explaining the importance of 'nugget shoes' and I realized this was a bigger deal to her than I expected."

"When she shouted 'Hey!' to me, I knew she was really trying to communicate something — I've never heard her get so worked up about something like this, so I was giggling to myself the whole time," the mom adds. "I thought it was so cute. She clearly had a plan for those nuggets that I wasn't understanding, so I was ready to listen!"

The mom thought it was so funny how passionate her daughter was acting about her nugget needing to be in her shoes and started recording the moment on her phone to send to her daughter's grandparents.

While she doesn't typically post videos of her daughter on my TikTok, she thought this was one of those videos her family, friends she would watched on repeat and laughed about so much that she thought others would get a good laugh out of it too.

Then, the TikTok video went viral amassing almost 2 million views and over 5,300 comments.

"I was a little worried at first when it started to go viral," the New Sharon, Iowa local says. "I've had a number of viral videos on my page and there are always the keyboard warriors who have opinions about videos that you couldn't imagine. But I was so pleasantly surprised to find exactly what I was hoping for in the comments. People sharing laughter and memories of their children at this age and everyone trying to figure out what her growing mind could possibly be trying to do with the Nugget Shoes."

"There were quite a few about how quickly time passes and how they remember their children or grandchildren at this age," she adds. "Wonderful reminders to cherish these moments."

Since this moment, McGriff says her daughter has yet to place any more nuggets in her shoes. But, any time she hears the video playing, she immediately lights up and runs over to watch. She then always turns to her and says "Nugget Shoes, mama," always reminding her of her discovery.

"Every day is a fun surprise with my daughter," McGriff adds. She is very independent and VERY talkative. I just love watching her discover the world around her!"

"I just hope it brought a smile and laugh to their life or gave them an opportunity to reflect on a similar memory," she adds. "There's a lot of difficulty and pain in our world and it was nice to share in the joy of this little moment with so many people."
