Sound the trend klaxon! Here on the Cosmopolitan UK fashion desk, we pride ourselves on being the first in the know on all the latest looks and aesthetics, and in turn, sharing them with you. After all, this is a no gatekeeping zone. So consider this your official heads up: we've spied a new microtrend in the form of quirky bags.

Stay with us here. We first spotted Kelsea Ballerini, AKA American singer-songwriter and girlfriend of Chase Stokes (jealous? us?), toting a bag that looks just like a goldfish bowl. Yes really. Attending the premiere of Doctor Odyssey on Wednesday [18 September] in which the artist makes her acting debut, Kelsea stepped onto the red carpet with the *very* unique accessory. But, given the Ryan Murphy-created TV series is set on a luxury cruise ship and follows the on-board doctor – played by Joshua Jackson, FYI – and his onboard medical team, the bag was a fitting homage.

The Goldfish Accessory Bag was created by Kate Barton, the designer behind Katy Perry's metal shark top. Constructed from clear acrylic and with no opening, it's hardly practical but there's no denying it's super cute and a conversation starter. Not convinced? Heidi Klum carried it at the Fashion Trust U.S. Awards last March.

Just a day after Kelsea carried her goldfish bowl, Ashley Park attended a SAG-AFTRA Foundation event with her own interesting bag – a crossbody design that resembled a mini guitar.

Wearing a crystal-embellished outfit, Ashley's sparkly accessory added even more glam as the silver and white guitar was covered in glitter, slung across her body on a silver chain link strap.

While designers like JW Anderson, Anya Hindmarch and Kate Spade are notorious for creating bags that look realistically like objects, animals and more, the high street seems to be catching on. Get in on the trend without breaking the bank and shop our favourite unique bags now:
