I trend watch like a hawk, and while I like to think I know what’s going to be big in the upcoming weeks—thanks to a mix of runway and celeb sightings, and just an inherent feel for what’s next—I also like to enlist the experts for their insights. This time around, I tapped in-the-know denim pro Grace Na, creative director of Pistola Denim, to ask her all about the denim trends that are going to be everywhere in 2025. Just as I expect, a few divisive styles made the top five, as well as a comfy-cute pick that might replace your sweats. Plus, an oldie but a goodie that’s going to be around for the next few decades (no joke).

Well, sorry to all the haters, but it seems like the divisive barrel leg jeans are here to stay for the next 12-plus months. Celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Hailey Bieber, and Katie Holmes have all been spotted in the style, and I guess it’s finally time I give it a try. Na acknowledges this, and when asked about an "unexpected" style that people wouldn’t have thought of, she called out the barrel leg iteration as one. “It felt very forward at first, but when people realize how flattering the right fit can be—they’re in,” shared Na. As for how to style them? “Pair with a great belt and a fitted top. With more volume on the bottom, you want to pair it back up top.”

Wide-leg jeans have been around for a while now, and clearly, they’re here for the long haul, according to Na. As for their controversial counterpart (ahem, skinnies), Na shared the style is “just not tracking.” In their place, more voluminous options, like the aforementioned wide-leg that’s equal parts cool and comfy, have been front and center. The best part? Wearing them is easy. Per Na, “opt for a blouse or thin sweater you can tuck in (or half tuck) for a feminine chic look.”

The style seems like the ideal in-between, given its draped (a.k.a., baggy-ish) silhouette as well as softer, lightweight denim that’s wearable right now, but especially come summertime. I own a few pairs that would fit into this category, and I have to say, they’re all I wear. Think of them like fancier sweats—yes, really.

Last but not least, the beloved baggy jeans are staying around for 2025. And honestly, I’m not surprised. Countless celebrities, like Holmes and Nicole Kidman, have stepped out in various versions of the baggy jeans, and per these sightings, the silhouette is clearly ideal for everything from errands to travel. The versatility and, of course, the comfort from the breezy fit, makes baggy jeans a must-try denim fit for all ages and occasions. “We know we can style this look casually with sneakers and a tee,” Na shared, adding, “but I also love styling with strappy sandals and statement jewelry.”
