If you’re someone who’s become slightly jaded with the concept of ‘sustainable fashion’, I don’t blame you. Far too many brands label themselves as eco-friendly these days, when the only credential they have is one organic cotton T-shirt amidst a polyester-heavy collection.

So when it comes to finding brands that aren’t greenwashing, you have to cut through the noise and look to simple solutions. Cue: Greater Goods.

Jaimus Tailor was struggling to sell a North Face jacket when he decided that instead of waiting for another buyer to bail on purchasing, he’d cut it up and make the scraps into a tote bag. From that, the idea for Greater Goods was born: an upcycling accessories brand that takes old outdoors gear and transforms them.

Since 2018, the brand has been making its own products, collaborating with brands (Arc’teryx and Salomon, to name two) and hosting workshops with a wide spectrum of companies encouraging anyone and everyone to get crafty with their Gore-Tex.

Now, the next partner and product drop comes in the form of cool climbing brand Gramicci. Damaged, surplus and faulty products have been upcycled by Greater Goods into a seven-piece collection, featuring a mix of great and gorpy clothes and accessories.

Gramicci’s famed green and olive materials have been reinvented into military-esque products, ranging from a patchwork bucket hat, or a multi-pocket backpack to a hooded pullover. (Sure, it’s got the kudos to endure treacherous terrain, but expect to see it worn as armour amongst and against the crowds of hypey sample sales.)

Not only does this collection repurpose deadstock, profits from sales will help those in need, too. From November 14th, pieces will be sold via a silent auction where funds will be donated to Urban Uprising, a charity that gives 8-18-year-olds from disadvantaged backgrounds the chance to join a climbing programme, an opportunity that many wouldn’t have access too.

A collab that does good by the environment, people and one’s wardrobe, what’s not to like?

Gramicci x Greater Goods will go live here on Thursday 14th November. The silent auction will end two weeks after and buyers will be contacted shortly after.
