Great Outfits in Fashion History: Halle Berry in Brown Valentino at the 2002 Golden Globes
There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In 'Great Outfits in Fashion History,' Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.
Halle Berry has never shied away from taking style risks, and has been a regular on best-dressed lists as a result. It's a statement as true now as it was 22 years ago — specifically, at the 2002 Golden Globes, only a couple of months before her historic Oscars win.
The actor donned a chocolate-brown gown from the Valentino Fall 2001 Haute Couture collection. The ruched fabric wrapped around her figure, with a window exposing the midriff through a sheer tulle underlayer embroidered with brown florals that also wrapped around her shoulders to form short cap sleeves.
Because the gown was so intricate, Berry kept her accessories to a minimum: stud earrings and her wedding ring. She kept the glam equally toned down, with her signature pixie cut, peak-Y2K brownie-glazed lip and subtle bronze shimmery eyeshadow.
