‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Ellen Pompeo, 54, Shows Off Toned Abs in transparent Dress at Emmys
  • Grey’s Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo stunned on the Emmys red carpet.

  • The 54-year-old showed off toned abs and arms in a transparent, sparkly gown.

  • She was joined by fellow Grey’s stars Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr., and Chandra Wilson for a reunion that fans loved.

The January 15 Emmys gave Grey’s Anatomy fans a huge treat. A few of the original cast members reunited with fellow Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital staff 19 years after the show’s premiere. Among them was, of course, Ellen Pompeo (who plays the titular Meredith Grey), Katherine Heigl, Justin Chambers, James Pickens Jr., and Chandra Wilson. They all traded their scrubs for grandeur to present the nominees for outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie, but Pompeo stood out, showing off toned abs in a transparent, sparkly dress complete with a collar and bow.

The 54-year-old shared photos of the look on Instagram. “It took a village today!! a big thank you to my team💫,” she wrote. Fans were obsessed with the sophisticated gown, which was aptly paired with a high, slicked-back ponytail. “You’re getting hotter every year, omg!!!❤️🔥,” one person commented. “Love the hair and the outfit 😍 you’re a perfection!!” another added. “Hot damn. Gorgeous!” someone else wrote.

At the ceremony, the beloved actress was the one to kick off the group’s presentation speech.“When the first episode of Grey’s Anatomy aired in March 2005, I’m not sure Shonda Rhimes knew that she had created a show that will have a lasting influence on television and create lifelong friendships,” she said, per People.

Chambers, who exited the show in 2020, continued, adding that “400 episodes and counting” are a “tribute to everyone who is now part of our family.” Heigl, who went her separate way in 2010, added that, through it all, there’s “one thing that had remained a constant”—Grey’s Anatomy’s “incredible fan base.”

“You stayed with us through plane crashes, super storms, earthquakes, and a global pandemic,” Wilson said. “And as we start our 20th season, we are officially the longest-running primetime medical drama in TV history.”

Pickens concluded: “And that would not be possible without all of you. So to all of our fans and to all of you—we thank you.”

On the red carpet, Heigl told People that the reunion was an “odd nostalgic walk down memory lane.” She added that she hasn’t seen Wilson in “15 years” or Chambers in “maybe 10,” but maintained that they “are people that mean a lot to me.”

“I miss them, so it’s really nice,” she said.

Pickens and Wilson remain original cast members on the show, and while Pompeo is still Ms. Grey, she opted to scale back the role last season to prioritize other projects, including Hulu’s Orphan, so she only appeared in eight episodes, per People.

As for what Pompeo does to look and feel her best, she told Who What Wear in 2022 that her wellness goal for the year was to focus on “getting stronger,” she said. “I do a lot of walking and stretching but not enough strength training.” She told the outlet that her favorite workout was “tennis,” and that her of-the-moment wellness ritual was “cryotherapy followed by an infrared sauna.”
