The Ground Beef Pasta Trick Everyone Is Making Right Now
Every month or so, a recipe goes viral on TikTok. A few weeks ago, people couldn’t stop obsessing over dry yogurt, and this summer, home cooks pulled out their silicone molds to remake the popular Dubai chocolate bar. Now, a new trend is taking the spotlight, thanks to an influencer dropping her favorite pasta, which was created by her beloved Turkish mother.
“This whole meal only takes as long as it takes for pasta to cook, it’s super easy,” Anna Paul, a creator on TikTok said in a clip recording her mother cooking her favorite meal. “If you love a Mediterranean vibe, a kebab vibe, or anything like that, then that’s what this tastes like, it’s so good.”
In the video (which has racked up nearly 14.4M views), Paul films her mother preparing this quick and easy ‘Turkish pasta.” And since she released this tutorial, thousands of TikTok creators have remade the dish. One user, @chanteecreates, gave the recipe a shot, noting in her caption, “Spoiler Alert: I loved it.”
To make Paul’s mom’s viral “Turkish pasta,” start by boiling a large pot of salted water. Paul uses farfalle in this recipe, but you can use any bite-size pasta, like penne or fusilli. While the pasta is boiling, sauté ground beef and diced onion, seasoning it with a dash of curry powder, black pepper, onion powder, sweet paprika, and salt. Paul’s mom emphasizes that you don’t need to add any oil. Cook the ground beef until it starts to caramelize and become crispy. In another pan, melt butter and sweet paprika together, then set it aside. For “most important part,” as Paul calls it, take some plain Greek yogurt and season it with salt and minced garlic. To assemble the dish, layer the pasta in a bowl, followed by a hearty dollop of the garlicky Greek yogurt, the cooked beef, and a big drizzle of the paprika butter sauce. Finish with a garnish of chopped fresh parsley and halved cherry tomatoes.
This simple hack is a great way to use up pantry and fridge staples while making a super-flavorful and creamy pasta dish. So, if you’ve had a box of farfalle sitting in your cabinet for months and need some inspiration (that goes beyond jarred sauce), why not give this recipe a try?
