GU Pays Homage to Hawkins High and the Hellfire Club With Nostalgia-fueled ‘Stranger Things’ Collection
GU is heading to the Upside Down, thanks to its new collaboration with “Stranger Things.” The men’s and women’s clothing brand, a sister company of Uniqlo, is set to launch its “Stranger Things”-inspired collection on Friday.
The GU x “Stranger Things” collaboration features gender-neutral styles inspired by ’80s nostalgia and plenty of references to the Netflix sci-fi series.

GU cites three specific parts of Hawkins as inspiration for the limited-edition collection. Its main influence, the Upside Down, is reflected in sweatshirts and matching socks featuring series iconography, including silhouettes of Mike and Eleven on a bike and an image from the first season embossed on a dark sweatshirt.
Inspiration also stemmed from Hawkins High School apparel, as seen in a hoodie with “1986” printed on it, references to the school’s mascot and nods to Lucas’ role on the basketball team. The collection also features scarves, hats and backpacks.
Finally, the collaboration looks to beloved season four character Eddie, played by “Gladiator II” and “A Quiet Place: Day One” star Joseph Quinn. Pieces inspired by the Hellfire club include a black hoodie with coordinated socks, scarf and more.
Prices for apparel in the collection range from $4.90 to $39.90.
Netflix’s “Stranger Things” debuted on the streaming platform in 2016. The series’ forthcoming fifth season is slated to debut in 2025. Throughout the series’ run, “Stranger Things” has spawned several fashion and accessory collaborations.
In October, Pandora debuted a collection of “Stranger Things”-inspired jewelry and charms. ColourPop, Mac Cosmetics and even Balmain have also introduced collections and capsules based on the Netflix series.
