New Gulfport slider restaurant opens to huge crowds Wednesday. Here’s what people said

Savvy Sliders opened its first Mississippi location today in Gulfport and the immediate reception was overwhelming.

The dining room was standing-room-only during the lunch hour and the drive-through wrapped around the building and into the parking lot of the department stores behind it on Highway 49.

It was a busy opening for the Detroit-based fast-casual slider restaurant that is rapidly expanding its footprint into the South. The Gulfport location is on the site of what was Krystal and is the 53rd Savvy Sliders restaurant to open since its founding in 2018.

Savvy Sliders is known for its unique menu of sliders and hand-spun custard shakes.

What did people think?

We were on-site to gather intel on what first-time visitors though of the new restaurant and had them give us a rating.

What’s on the menu?

Sliders come in seven variations: Original, classic prime beef, famous fried chicken, boomin’ chicken, spicy falafel, English cod and signature steakhouse.

No. 2 on the menu is the Duo Switchup, is the most popular order, allowing you to choose two different sliders.

Hand-breaded chicken tenders in original or spicy flavor come in three-piece, five-piece and 10-piece.

There are four original custard shakes: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and banana. Then there are the specialty shakes: cookies n’ cream, banana pudding and strawberry shortcake.
