Gymshark Selects N.Y.’s Bond Street for First U.S. Store

Gymshark has been testing the waters in the U.S. for nearly a decade, and now, the U.K.-based activewear brand has finally put pen to paper and signed a lease for its first American store.

The 13,000-square-foot space at 11 Bond Street in New York City is set to open in late 2025 and will span four floors. The space will include a retail store, as well as workout studios and a community hangout. The space will also host fitness events and an array of interactive experiences, the company said.

This will mark only the second flagship for Gymshark, which opened a location on Regent Street in London in October 2022. It also has a store in Westfield Stratford and an outlet at Bicester Village in the U.K., as well as a unit in the Dubai Mall.

“The very first event we did in real life was in a tiny 1,000-square-foot pop-up on Mercer Street in New York,” said Ben Francis, founder and chief executive officer of Gymshark. “It set the tone for so much that followed. The fact that, almost 10 years later, we are preparing to open a flagship in the city that’s 10 times the size of that first store absolutely blows my mind. New York has really become our North American home. Our headquarters are here, and to welcome so many members of the community to Lift: NY last year was incredible. But to have a permanent location that allows our community to train, shop, and hang out, and for us to hang out with them, really takes it to another level.”

In June of 2024, Gymshark opened its U.S. headquarters on Greene Street and in September of last year, it hosted Lift: NY, its largest event ever, which attracted more than 7,500 people to Pier 36 for a weekend of workouts.

In December, the company opened a pop-up in SoHo that remained through the end of January. Before that, it had another temporary location in partnership with model and fitness influencer Nikki Blackketter. At the time, Mitch Healey, Gymshark’s retail and events director, said, “The sheer appetite for fitness in New York is plain to see. You just have to walk a few blocks to see tons of people draped in gym kit, going to or from their sessions.”

Gymshark was created in 2012 in Birmingham, U.K.
