If you were to ask us where our mind goes when you say “Hailey Bieber,” we’d either think of her beauty brand Rhode (in the last couple weeks, we’ve been especially stuck on her new lip liners) or her ever-iconic glazed-donut nails. After a run of other cute nail designs, we’re thrilled to see Bieber revived her signature nail look in her latest Instagram post.
Holding her son, Jack, Bieber’s nails are peeking out amongst the rest of the sweetness (namely, Jack’s adorable red-knit beanie and little hands). For this mani, she put a 2025 spin on the look, opting for shimmery pink instead of nude.
Bieber first debuted glazed-donut nails at the 2022 Met Gala, and they became an instant classic. The trend grew like wildfire, and it quickly became commonplace to ask your nail artist for “glazed-donut nails” without anyone batting an eyelid or wondering what that means.
But the original frosty nail design almost didn’t exist. “It was a really last-minute decision to do glazed-donut nails at the Met Gala, surprisingly,” Zola Ganzorigt, Bieber’s nail artist responsible for the look, previously told Glamour. “We were originally talking about doing just translucent white color, but I asked Hailey to try the chrome effect because it’d match her dress. That’s how we discovered the glazed-donut nail.”
According to her TikTok, Ganzorigt used OPI Gel Color Stay Strong Base Coat (similar here), followed by one coat of OPI GelColor in Funny Bunny, one coat of OPI Gel Color Stay Shiny Top Coat (similar here), and the key ingredient, OPI Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can for Bieber’s Met Gala nails, but as the trend has grown, many have swapped out Funny Bunny for a range of other colors and styles (glazed French tips, anyone?).
The term glazed donut has even transcended beauty categories: Not only are these iridescent nails one of the hottest nail trends in the last few years, but Bieber also made glazed-donut skin a serious skin care goal (think hydrated, bouncy, dewy, soft, even-toned skin). And if that’s not proof of the power of Hailey Bieber, we don’t know what is.
