Whether you're breaking up with splitting ends post-bleach or simply fancy a personal rebrand, braving the bob has never been more chic. The poster girl for the modern crop? None other than Hailey Bieber. From her coveted 'boyfriend bob' to her glossy, glazed cappuccino colour, the model and beauty founder has been a constant on our hairstyle mood boards. Her latest styling? A fluffy, French girl 'do that draws ample inspiration from 90s supermodels.

'I’d describe Hailey's look as a real "90s Power Bob." It’s a round, layered bob. Very Kelly Lebrock-inspired,' says hairstylist and Ambassador for L’Oréal Professionnel Adam Reed. 'To achieve this you’d request your stylist to cut a bob shape in and then concave into the front and put a very soft, rounded layer into the edge.'

Of course, it's effortless to attain a chic and coveted hairdo at the hands of a trained professional; it's in the weeks that follow, once expert styling has been rinsed away, that things begin to get tricky. So, how does one achieve such voluminous French girl texture at-home?

'What you’ll see with Hailey’s cut is that it looks really chunky, so you need to blow dry the whole head giving it some volume and then use velcro rollers to set that volume into place,' explains Reed. 'Blow drying this is really important; use L’Oréal Professionnel TecniART Volume Lift Mousse in at the root and then TecniART PLI through the ends because you want volume and structure.'

To ensure you get maximum volume and hold, roll the roller through your hair while it's still warm from the blow dry. 'Then as it cools down and is taken out you get that bounce and movement that’s really sexy. What’s great about velcro rollers is that they are looser and bouncier so it gives some real oomph.'

One of the other benefits of this stylish cut is that it works on any hair type. You need only look at recent bob converts Hailee Steinfeld and to see the textured crop's versatility. According to Hattie Davis, Senior Stylist at Spectrum One, all you need to do is adapt your cut a little depending on your hair texture, making sure to compliment how your strands fall naturally.

'Looking at Hailey Bieber, many clients would think that they couldn't achieve a bob like this if they have thin or fine hair, which isn't the case,' she says. 'I would simply add some Spectrum One Hair Extensions Invisible Tapes to add fullness and thickness to any areas that are lacking, which is often around the face. The Invisible Tapes are amazing for transformations like these as the hair goes all the way up and over the tape making them undetectable in the hair,' she concludes.
