Unlike, say, Rihanna or Suki Waterhouse, Halle Bailey waited until after her baby was born to share her baby bump with the world—but she’s been no less creative with how she’s showing it off. A week and a half after announcing the birth of her son, Halo, Bailey posted a video reel from her underwater maternity shoot, which was very reminiscent of a certain Disney princess mermaid.

Bailey went with a very ethereal look for the shoot, which was lit with shades of blue and purple, and dressed in drapey chiffon and metallic fabrics. “🧜🏽‍♀️Missing my belly already 💜but i obviously had to do underwater pics 😉,” the Little Mermaid star wrote in the caption.

To her IG Stories, Bailey also posted a few of the final products from the shoot, showing the actor floating dreamily under the water, with the loose fabric floating around her baby bump.

Social media had been speculating that Halle Bailey was pregnant for months before she finally confirmed the birth of her son on Instagram. On January 6 she posted a photo of herself holding her newborn’s tiny hand, with a caption announcing that he’d arrived in 2023. “Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son,” she wrote. “Welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️.”
