Is Elisabeth Moss A Scientologist?
Yes, Elisabeth Moss is a scientologist, the actor identifies with the religion and was raised in a scientologist family.
Previously, Moss has come under fire from fans of The Handmaid's Tale as many believed that scientology and the regime Gilead regime share a number of similarities. One fan took to Instagram to post a comment underneath a post stating: 'Both Gilead and Scientology both believe that all outside sources (aka news) are wrong or evil… it’s just very interesting.'
Moss responded by saying stating that the claims were 'not true at all.' Continuing on, she elaborated her standpoint on the matter. 'Religious freedom and tolerance and understanding the truth and equal rights for every race, religion and creed are extremely important to me. The most important things to me probably. And so Gilead and THT hit me on a very personal level. Thanks for the interesting question.'
While Moss has defended her religion a number of times, she prefers to keep it private, which she spoke about during an interview with The Guardian.
'It is weird for me to be put in the position where I am like, 'No, I can’t. I don’t really want to talk about this.' You feel kind of like, I am a nice person who likes to talk about stuff. I also get the curiosity. I get the fascination. I become fascinated with things that are none of my business as well. I am just fascinated when someone breaks up with somebody. I want to know all about it. I am very interested in what people are wearing, and all of that kind of thing, but you have a right to your privacy.'
Does Elisabeth Moss Have A Partner And Children?
While much of Moss's private life is mostly kept under wraps, the actor has, at times opened up about certain aspects of her personal life. Moss is a divorcee, who was previously married to actor, comedian, musician, and writer Fred Armisen. The former couple met in October 2008 and were engaged by January 2009, and married in October of that year. Moss and Armisen wed in London Island City, New York, and were separated by June 2010 and finalised their divorce by May 2011.
In January 2024, Moss announced that she was expecting her first child, which she later gave birth to sometime in 2024.

Elisabeth Moss first gained to recognition after appearing in the NBC political drama The West Wing (1999–2006). She then rose to critical acclaim after starring in the period drama Mad Men (2007–2015). After portraying Detective Robin Griffin in Top Of The Lake (2013), she won the Golden Glove for Best Actress - Miniseries or Television Film.
However, Moss is arguably best known for her producing and starring as June Osborne in The Handmaid's Tale (2017-present), which has seen her win two Primetime Emmy Awards.
Since then, she's featured in a number of projects including Shining Girls (2022) The Veil (2024), Shell (2024).
Since 2022, a spin-off sequel to The Handmaid's Tale, The Testaments, has been in development. Moss, will feature as executive producer of the upcoming series, which begins production on April 8.
As per Variety, the premise is as follows: 'For these young women, growing up in Gilead is all they have ever known, having no tangible memories of the outside world prior to their indoctrination into this life. Facing the prospect of being married off and living a life of servitude, they will be forced to search for allies, both new and old, to help in their fight for freedom and the life they deserve.'
