It’s not very becoming for a (supposed) grown up to be envious of a tweenager but, we must admit, we're rather jealous of Harper Beckham today. On Friday night, the youngest member of brood Beckham – a girl who has already has an access all areas pass to one of the best wardrobes in the world and who was sitting next to Anna Wintour on the FROW before she was out of nappies – was cheering on mum in a bespoke blush pink slip dress, worn with backless thong heels.

Bold move, Harper, given the rain that has blighted this Paris Fashion Week and the winding paths up to the Château de Bagatelle, a neoclassical ‘maison de plaisance’ in Paris’s Bois de Boulogne, where Victoria was presenting her SS25 collection. Just ask VB – who took her bow in a fluid black suit – broken ankles are so last season. Thankfully, Harper has inherited mum’s ability to negotiate tricky terrain in trickier shoes (Victoria was wearing trainers when she busted her ankle earlier this year).

Harper was joined on the FROW by her dad David, as well as her three brothers (Cruz, Romeo and Brooklyn), at a star-studded spectacle being documented by the Netflix crew currently capturing a documentary about her. Brooklyn was accompanied by his wife, actor Nicola Peltz-Beckham, both of them in takes on a tuxedo; while Cruz – whose fondness for vintage-inflected dressing in a spiffy suit – attended with his girlfriend Jackie Apostel, in a slinky white dress. Romeo, who had been out celebrating Stefano Pilati’s Zara collection this previous night, wore leather and Matrix-inspired sunglasses.

Victoria’s family have naturally, always been reliable, vocal fans of the brand – and their presence at the shows makes sense for the label. Victoria Beckham, the brand, is powered by Victoria Beckham, the woman, who draws on her own experiences (as wife, mother, performer, business woman, fashion lover) to inform her designs. The collections have evolved with her, their confidence mirroring her own – and she knows to pepper in bits of biography here and there by way of explanation.

And what of her recent collection? One of Beckham’s most conceptual to date, she explored the intimacy of getting dressed – and undressed; hopping onto blurred lines between body and garment. Tailoring was slashed, garments artfully deconstructed. Stretch bodysuits in shades approximating the models’ own skin tones, were not only an abstract take on 'naked dressing', they called to mind the bodycon pieces that she launched her label with.

The catwalk show also served as a launch party for Victoria Beckham Beauty’s new fragrance, 21:50 Rêverie. Like its predecessors, this one has a personal backstory, drawing on the designer’s memories of a date night with Mr. B in Java. Victoria’s strength – with her booming beauty business, as with her clothes – is to reinterpret a bit of that magic for the rest of us.
