HBO Max Delivers New Trailer for Issa Rae's 'Rap Sh!t'

HBO Max has dropped off a new trailer for Rap Sh!t, its upcoming original comedy series co-executive produced by Insecure's Issa Rae.

“Are y’all ready for the next big, must-see, fun show this summer?” Rae, who also co-wrote the first episode and the finale alongside showrunner Syreeta Singleton, says in the visual's opening.

Rap Sh!t follows two estranged friends from high school — Shawna, played by Aida Osman, and Mia, played by KaMillion — who join forces to create a rap group. Aside from Osman and KaMillion, the main cast includes Jonica Booth, Devon Terrell and RJ Cyler.

Rae is executive producing the series alongside Singleton, City Girls‘ Yung Miami and JT, Quality Control Films’ Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas, Sara Rastogi, Montrel McKay, Jonathan Berry, Dave Becky and Deniese Davis.

The series premiered at the American Black Film Festival, which honored Rae as this year's ambassador, last month. Rap Sh!t will officially release with two episodes on HBO Max on July 21 at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET. The eight-episode series will then continue to roll out with one episode weekly until September 1.
