Helen Mirren Looks Glamorous with Long Gray Hair on Shazam Red Carpet
Helen Mirren looked regal on the Shazam red carpet in Los Angeles last night.
The actress wore a black lace gown and accessorized with a headband and dramatic statement earrings. She wore her long gray hair down, a point of pride for Mirren.
"You're not supposed to have longer hair after a certain age," she told ITV’s Lorraine Kelly earlier this week. "But during Covid, I started growing my hair and I hadn't actually had long hair since I was in my 20s. And it sort of grew and grew and grew, and I couldn't be bothered to cut it, basically. I thought, do you know what, it's pretty cool, I think I'll stick with it for a little while. It will come off eventually."
She added, "But I'm kind of enjoying it, it's quite radical."
Mirren brought her grandson, Basil, as her date to the premiere. Basil held tight to his grandmother's hand, and kept it casual in a denim shirt and black sneakers.
Her Shazam character, Hespera, is called a god, but Mirren describes her as a goddess. She explained, "I love being an actress. It feels very Belle Époque, very sort of 19th century. Certainly if I’m a god, I would think of myself as a goddess, I have to say."
As an actress, Mirren has enjoyed going from the hit Yellowstone prequel 1923 to Shazam. "I have done very diverse things in the past two years, and that’s what makes my life so fun, she said. "To go from doing 1923 to doing Shazam. It is really what we enjoy as actors, jumping into these different worlds."
Mirren will likely return to season two of 1923, but it has yet to be officially confirmed.
