For her first premiere in years, Cameron Diaz proves the power of a classic red lip
After more than a decade away from the big screen to focus on family, Cameron Diaz is back in the spotlight. The actress graced the red carpet in Berlin this week for the premiere of her new movie, the fittingly titled Back In Action, and looked better than ever with a statement lip look.
The 52-year-old dazzled with a matte red lip created by the make-up artist Mélanie Inglessis, who has worked with Diaz for some time, and also counts A-listers including Jenna Ortega, Olivia Wilde and Sienna Miller as clients. Inglessis opted for a deep, blue-based red for Diaz, complementing her colouring and bringing out her eyes, which were balanced with lush-looking lashes.
How to work a matte red lip
To keep a matte lip flattering, prep is key – using a lip scrub and treatment mask ahead of application will help ensure a plump and juicy base onto which your colour will glide. A lip liner will also help prevent the colour from bleeding; unless you want an ombre look, keep the shade as close to that of your lipstick as possible. Also, filling the whole of the lip with liner first will aid the staying power of your lipstick.

Diaz's Netflix movie, out now, sees a return to acting for the star, who has taken a hiatus in recent years in order to spend time with her young family. When asked by Empire if this meant she was back for good, Diaz responded: “I don’t know how I view it. It’s hard to say. If I say it then it becomes this thing. I reserve the right to say no to doing a movie ever again, and I reserve the right to say yes if I decide to. I’m not defining anything. I’m just open to whatever makes sense for me and my family at any given moment.” Here's hoping she says yes to plenty more projects going forward.
