Hoda Kotb Says She's Excited to Experience a New Routine with Her Daughters After Leaving “Today”: 'Normal Rhythm of Life'
The journalist is officially leaving 'Today' on Friday, Jan. 10
Hoda Kotb is ready for her family to embark on their new normal.
The journalist, 60, chatted with Today.com about what her life is going to look like following her exit from Today on Friday, Jan. 10. Kotb, who is mom to daughters Hope, 5, and Haley, 7, shared that she's most excited to settle into a new routine with her family of three.
"I'm going to let them find the voice inside them," she said of her two girls.
"I'm going to let them take more trips and stay up a little later because part of the reason I put them to bed at that hour is because I've got to go to bed," Kotb explained. "I'm like, 'Goodnight! Everyone's going to bed.' They're like, 'It's 6:30!' I'm like, 'Yeah, lights out!'"
Above all else, Kotb said she's going to just let them figure out a normal routine.
"I'm just going to let us be a family with a normal rhythm of life," she added. "See what we become.

In August, Kotb shared why she moved her two kids out of New York City and into the suburbs.
"I want my kids to feel grass on their feet, and play in the yard, and ride bikes down the street, and run up and down the stairs," she shared. "I just see that life for them in this perfect house in this beautiful little town where I know they'll be able to blossom into beautiful, independent, strong women."
The timing is especially right for Kotb, who noted that she's in a "repotting phase" of her life.
"It's like my roots need a bigger pot," she said. "You know when you take a plant out of a pot, and it's roots are all twisted and tight? And then you put it in a bigger pot with fresh new soil and it just grows bigger and stronger? That's the journey I'm on right now. And it's going to hurt a little, to leave that pot that was so comfortable for so long. But in the end, it's going to be exactly what we need."
That October, Kotb celebrated her first Halloween in the suburbs with her girls, showing off the family of three's costumes on her Instagram.
Hope wore a blue cheerleader costume, posing with her hand on her hip in one photo with her sister. Haley opted for a purple cheerleader uniform, smiling and carrying a white basket for her candy. Kotb included photos of the family of three trick-or-treating in the suburbs for the first time since they moved away from Manhattan.
"Boo!" Kotb wrote in her caption.
