'Home Town' Star Erin Napier Pays Tribute to Jimmy Buffett with a Special Trip
Jimmy Buffett died on September 1 at the age of 76. The laid-back rock musician was beloved by millions and often associated with the beach and all things tropical. Erin Napier paid tribute to Buffett the only way she knows how: with a trip to the Gulf Coast with her family. Buffett was known to frequent the Gulf Coast, visiting and performing at his Margaritaville locations and his sister Lucy Buffett's restaurant Lucy's in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Napier family took a trip to the neighboring beach town of Orange Beach, prompted by news of Buffett's passing.
"Jimmy Buffett died and I needed to go back to the place where my parents had a home in Orange Beach. They sold it the month before Mae was born and she never met the beach the way her sister did as a baby. Found a last minute unit available next door to the one where I spent my summers. We were so lucky to grow up jumping into Ole River and riding boats with tangled salty hair out to the islands. I needed my girls to hear songs about the Gulf and dig in the sand, to know this place and how much it meant to our family. Maybe you can’t go back, but you can rent for the weekend," Napier captioned her post on Instagram.
The Home Town star set her video, featuring her husband Ben Napier and daughters Mae and Helen playing by the water, to Buffett's song "Tin Cup Chalice."
"I want to be there/ Want to go back down and lie beside the sea there," Buffett sings.
It seems Buffett's passing prompted a similar reaction from many fans, with impromptu beach trips and memories of days spent on the sand. "I have been listening to Jimmy nonstop since he passed and like you it reminded me of the family because trip, boiling shrimp, listening to the surf while lounging in the sand. Jimmy knew, there is nothing that can soothe the soul like the ocean it's why we all collectively gather there. His presence on the planet is going to leave such a massive gaping hole," one fan wrote. "I grew up in and around boats and fishing. Jimmy was the soundtrack. Spent yesterday on our boat with my fishing rod in my hands and listening to Jimmy,” another echoed.
Jimmy Buffett will be remembered by the Napier family and countless others and will surely be heard on beaches and boats for years to come. You just can't think of the beach without thinking of Buffett. We love to see Erin making something positive out of this sad news, sharing the love for the beach and Buffett with her young girls.
