Interior designers have been predicting a trend toward warmer colors for a while now, and Pantone is making it official. Famous for its color-matching and forecasting, the company has crowned Mocha Mousse, a milk-chocolatey shade of brown, the Pantone 2025 Color of the Year. Described by Pantone as "sophisticated and lush," the color aligns with the quiet luxury trend that's still dominating design.

Because brown is neutral, it's easy to add to your living space. You probably already decorate with the hue in some way — think of your wood furniture, for instance. Thanks to some underlying pink tones, Mocha Mousse is a more subtle take on the earthy color. "This mid-tone brown shade is so versatile you can use it in any space," says Sue Kim, director of color marketing at Valspar.

"It can adapt to a wide range of design styles — from minimalist to more eclectic, bohemian interiors," adds Meghan Howell, North American design and creative director at Formica Corporation. "It pairs beautifully with natural materials like wood, stone and leather, creating a harmonious connection to the natural world."

If you've shopped for any furniture in the past couple of years, you've probably come across the fuzzy, nubby material called bouclé. These 18-inch pillow covers show a different way to use the fabric. If you don't want to buy inserts, try this trick: Fit a pillow you already own that's the same size or slightly larger into the case and voila, what's old is new again!

One easy way to add mocha to your decor is with lighting, says interior designer Traci Connell. She loves a chandelier, but if you're looking for something more budget-friendly, start with a table lamp. "Just like warmer lighting, the color mocha brings a sense of comfort to a space, inviting conversation and guests to linger longer," she says.

This fixture lets you embrace two trends in one: The shade is the perfect mocha color, plus it has a stylish scalloped design. And a dark wood base gives it a very high-end look.

"Introduce touches of [Mocha Mousse] through natural materials in unexpected places, like wood vases and leather accent pillows," suggests Christine Marvin, chief marketing and experience officer at window and door manufacturer Marvin. She says her company has seen a growing interest in natural wood in the home over the last few years.

These small vases are carved from reclaimed wood, giving them a rustic look, and the mid-tone finish offers a rich take on the color.
