Huishan Zhang RTW Spring 2024

Huishan Zhang looked to the world of ballet, and dancers’ lightness of movement, for this collection, which was filled with lavish twists on classic styles.

Long, luscious fringe sprouted from the sleeves of a tailored silk coat and a languid gray flannel suit, while oversize pearls and diamante details sparkled from the front of a sharp white skirt suit.

It was investment dressing with an extra shot of glamour.

Zhang dresses socialites in China, and around the world, and this collection nodded to that broad customer base.

While there were a few sheer pieces for evening, the silhouettes were mostly very modest: tall boots with block heels disappeared under pleated, or laser-washed, denim skirts while liquid tops came with their own headscarves. A short, tutu-style dress with a single curlicue ruffle was worn with a pair of slim trousers.

For evening, sparkly flower appliqués twinkled on dresses with rounded, statement shoulders while cellophane fringe adorned sequin gowns and flapper-style dresses. And those dresses with full skirts and sweeps of sheer fabric could make any client feel like a prima ballerina.
