Hundreds of sheep have taken over empty streets in the Turkish coastal city of Samsun during lockdown — and the videos are amazing.

Footage shared across social media shows the animals following a shepherd down the deserted streets, occasionally stopping to graze on the grassy roundabouts. The shepherd soon led the sheep to a mountainous area in a neighbouring province, but not before they were filmed by perplexed residents.

One local took to Twitter to share what they could see from their apartment window. Turkish journalist, Ragip Soylu, said: "Flock of sheep invades Turkey's city of Samsun last night during the coronavirus lockdown."

If you listen with the sound on you'll be able to hear the ringing of bells as they happily explore the city centre. Take a look at the videos below...

Elsewhere, many other animals around the world have also been taking advantage of the empty streets. Over in Wales, we saw a herd of mountain goats descended on the seaside town of Llandudno, while over in Venice, seabirds have been enjoying leisurely swims thanks to the deserted canals. Plus, locals have been spotting deer roaming the parks in London and Geese in the Turkish city of Adana.
