Iggy Azalea is a divisive figure in the music industry, with many accusing her of appropriating black culture. But if you think the Australian rapper might back down or find a new career, you’re sorely mistaken.

One fan found that out the hard way after praising a racy new photo shoot featuring the “Black Widow” performer and commenting, “Iggy Azalea needs [to] leave the mic and model more.”

The tweet — which fetched 48,000 likes — may have been intended as a compliment, but Azalea herself didn’t see it that way. She promptly fired back a fiery response to the poster, accusing her of trying to shut women up.

Her rant got mixed reactions. Many accused Azalea of overreacting and noted that the poster had the right to not enjoy her music.

But other fans cheered the rapper as a “feminist queen” and commented that female musicians are often expected to portray a sexy image, which then defines them. Azalea’s statement is a reminder that women can be powerful and pretty, her supporters claim.

Girl power or overreaction? Either way, the message is clear: Don’t come for Iggy Azalea.
