Ikea is launching a new colourful collection for Ramadan (28th February – 30th March 2025), featuring beautiful patterns inspired by Islamic art.

The Gokvällå range, created by Ikea designers Luna Gil and Lisa Hilland, focuses on late-night feasts with loved ones. From moons to twinkling star lanterns, it has everything you need to help set the mood of your home for the long fasting days of Ramadan.

With prices starting from £2.50, highlights include a gold two-tiered serving stand, lanterns for all Iftar festivities, printed rugs, moon-shaped cushions, and trays for serving food after hours. Each item has a focus on intricate patterns inspired by the cycle of day and night.

'The Gokvällå collection is ideal for when family, friends and loved ones come together once the sun sets in for a fun celebration to break the fast,' say the team at Ikea. 'Colourful textiles, festive tableware and detailed decorations can be found throughout this latest capsule.'

During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims won't eat or drink during the hours of daylight but will gather with loved ones for iftar (also known as ftoor) to break their fast in the evening. Once the month has been completed, families celebrate with a three-day festival called Eid al-Fitr, or the Festival of the Breaking of the Fast.

A time of spiritual reflection and self-improvement, it's the most sacred month of the year in Islamic culture. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, with its exact dates changing every year because it is based on the cycles of the moon.
