New immersive Jane Austen holiday experience launches to mark writer’s 250th birthday
Jane Austen fever is sweeping the country – from TV dramas like Miss Austen to dance balls and costumed promenades set to take place in Bath later this year.
But now a brand new holiday experience has just been unveiled to mark the writer’s special 250th anniversary.
To coincide with the birthday celebrations, Exclusive Collection has announced a new immersive Jane Austen-themed getaway. The two-night staycation experience is a tour of some of the most iconic Austen locations, and is being hailed as a ‘duo-destination’ package – with stays at two country house hotels in Castle Combe and Winchester.
As you might expect, the trip is a celebration of all things Austen – where guests will get a chance to follow in the writer’s footsteps and soak up some the locations that inspired her books along the way.
The first night involves a stay at The Manor House, a 17th century manor in the Cotswolds (that looks as if it's been plucked from one of her novels), before a trip to the Jane Austen Centre in Bath, where the novelist spent six creative years of her life.
Next up on the itinerary is a scenic drive around the Hampshire countryside, where the writer lived her entire life.
This is followed by a night’s stay at Lainston House, a 17th-century manor – just 20 minutes from Chawton, where Jane penned four of her novels, and 25 minutes from Steventon, where she was born. In other words, it’s the perfect place to immerse yourself in the writer’s world.
The experience runs from April 1 to late September, with prices starting from £620 for a solo traveller, or £690 for two people sharing a room (covering two nights).
There’s never been a better time to plan a trip to the region either, with ‘Jane Austen’s England' – AKA the southwest of the UK – being named the New York Times’ best place to visit in 2025.
