Inside a $58 Million Clifftop Estate in Malibu With a Private Staircase to Big Dume Beach
Looking to catch a break? A home on the scenic coast of Malibu just listed with sweeping Pacific Ocean views and peeling waves to match. Set on Point Dume, the home is perched on a spectacular view lot with access to Little and Big Dume, two of the ‘Bu’s best surf points. At $58 million, it is the neighborhood’s most expensive home on the open market. Branden Williams, Rayni Williams, and Preston Gazoway of The Beverly Hills Estates hold the listing.
The one-acre estate has a modernly refurbished farmhouse-style main residence and a detached guest house with views that range from Catalina Island all the way to the downtown Los Angeles skyline. It most recently sold in 2022 for $20.75 million and, after an extensive overhaul, was returned to the market last August at $65 million, according to online records. That sky-high price, 213 percent more than it sold for two years earlier, was cut to its current ask in December 2024. Five bedrooms and eight baths are featured throughout the property.

An oversized motor court with towering palm trees stretches out in front of the two-story main residence. Its rugged base is composed of globally sourced stones and Japanese Shou Sugi Ban-treated wood that allows it to blend into the natural settings. The interiors take a sleeker approach, playing up smooth Roman plaster walls and French oak herringbone floors throughout. Walls of glass capped by sloped wood-panel ceilings and slatted skylights create space for natural light to illuminate the interiors.

Beyond the spacious, light-filled reception area, which has a wall of built-in display shelves, there’s a chef’s kitchen with dual islands and a stone backsplash and a step-down living room with a vaulted ceiling, a fireplace, and three walls of picture windows. Sliding glass doors open out to a sun-soaked wraparound terrace with an alfresco dining space next to a plunge-sized pool and spa. A wooden-barrel sauna with a breathtaking ocean and coastline view sits nearby, on a manicured lawn that stretches out to the bluff’s precipitous edge.
Back inside, the beige and white primary suite evokes a sense of serenity with a wood-paneled wall opposite a fireplace in the bedroom. There’s also a morning bar, a private sitting area, and a balcony. The attached bath seals the deal with sloped ceilings and a skylight that spills sunlight into the marble-clad shower. Rounding out the property: a guest house with its own kitchen, dining, and lounge areas; a sports court; a home theater; and a spa space with hot and cold plunge pools. But, as great as all that is, the private staircase that zigzags down the cliff to Big Dume’s sandy beachfront is the icing on this cake.
With its large parcels, relaxed vibe, and easy access to the heart of Malibu, Point Dume has long been a haven for entertainment industry elite, including Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Julia Roberts, Matthew McConaughey, Howie Mandell, Pink, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and smooth jazz saxophonist Kenny G, who reportedly leased his clifftop compound to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez back in 2023 for a heart-stopping $600,000 per month.
