Inside the warm and characterful Somerset home of a wallpaper designer
It’s not hard to tell that this is the home of a creative soul. As well as providing much of the inspiration for the whimsical designs that decorate Annika Reed’s fabrics and wallpapers, it also displays them to fabulous effect. Upstairs, her wallpapers add character to the bedrooms, while downstairs, her grandmother’s antique Staffordshire pottery collection, which inspired her Pair of Dogs and Red Coat designs, features prominently in the living room and kitchen.
Annika aimed to give each room its own distinct character while maintaining a cohesive feel throughout the house. The kitchen is a cheerful hub with green units paired with a joyful yellow ceiling, creating a bright, breezy interior reminiscent of sunny days and the warm hues of Morocco. These toasty tones flow into the living room, painted in Dutch Orange by Edward Bulmer, a shade Annika's fallen in love with.
Upstairs, the colour palette shifts to cooler tones, with soothing shades of blues and greens. The main bedroom has a cosy, tranquil feel papered in Annika’s Rubber Plant design, chosen by her husband and complemented by matching woodwork, while the children’s rooms showcase some of her more fantastical wallpapers, Pegasus and Red Coat.
Annika also takes us on a tour of her garden studio, giving us a glimpse into the creative space where her designs come to life.
