Experts Ranked The Best Dishes In The World & They All Agreed THIS Is Number 1

While taste is a totally subjective thing—and one person's "death row meal" could be another person's version of punishment—the Taste Atlas just released its annual roundup of the best and worst foods in the world based on what people actually like (and don't).

The website compiled the ranking based on 395,205 reviews from users on its site, and even pored through the results to vet out any "bot, nationalist, or local patriotic ratings," the New York Post reports. The roundup was created as a "final, global conclusion" to "promote excellent local foods" and "instill pride in traditional dishes," according to the site.

Of the 10,927 cataloged dishes, participants named dishes from Brazil, Malaysia, and Thailand in the top 3 best foods. Picanha, Roti canai, and Phat kaphrao topped the list with pizza Napoletana from Italy, Guotie from China, and Khao soi from Thailand trailing shortly behind.

Here are the 15 best foods across the globe:

  1. Picanha (Brazil)

  2. Roti canai (Malaysia)

  3. Phat kaphrao (Thailand)

  4. pizza Napoletana (Italy)

  5. Guotie (China)

  6. Khao soi (Thailand)

  7. Butter Garlic Naan (India)

  8. Tanbao (China)

  9. Shashlik (Russia)

  10. Phanaeng Curry (Thailand)

  11. Pappardelle al cinghiale (Italy

  12. Amêijoas à Bulhão Pato (Portugal)

  13. Pempek (Indonesia)

  14. Bánh mī thįt (Vietnam)

  15. Tom kha gai (Thailand)

Now if you've never heard of the list's number one dish, a.k.a Picanha (which we have an amaze recipe for), let me be the first to introduce you to this culinary wonder. It's a classic skewered meat that comes from the rear of a cow—also called a sirloin cap.

As for the number two and three slots, the Roti canai is Malaysian flatbread dish while the Phat kaphrao is a basil stir-fry dish (it's literally translated to that), which can be made with either meat or seafood.

Of course with the good, comes the bad. The Taste Atlas also revealed the worst dishes across the globe, according to users. Blodpalt (a dumpling prepared in animal's blood), Hákarl (shark flesh), and Bocadillo de sardinas (a sardine sandwich) turned off eaters the most.
