Introducing Summer's Soon-To-Be Biggest Trend, 'The Zendaya Lift'
You remember that Zendaya press tour? You know the one. The one with the tennis ball shoes, accessories and dresses? Of course, in many ways it came as little surprise to followers of the star. The Euphoria actor is as revered for her Emmy award-winning performances as she is for her love of method red carpet dressing, but this summer it looks like she may well be credited with a sports revival too.
According to former British number one tennis player, Anne Keothavong, who captains Britain's team in the Billie Jean King Cup, there's been a sharp increase in interest in tennis thanks to Zendaya's most recent film, Challengers, which told the tale of a trio of tennis players.

Speaking at the All England Tennis Club, which is where Wimbledon will begin on July 1, Keothavong confirmed that there's been a 60% increase in online sales of tennis athleisurewear compared to last year and a 30% increase in sales in the shop.
'Anything that creates interest around our sport is a win in my opinion and if the likes of Zendaya, who is one of the most famous people on our planet right now, embraces tennis and shows up at tennis tournaments, that's great,' the tennis coach said, per The Times.
While the Dune star's Luca Guadagnino-directed film is said to have been behind the public's interest in the sport, professional obligations aside, the actor herself has attended tennis matches in her own time too. Most recently, she was pictured attending the women's finals at the 2024 Indian Wells tournament in California with her partner, Tom Holland.
After the tournament, Zendaya and Holland chatted to the champion of the match, Iga Swiatek, who said meeting Zendaya was 'crazy'. 'She's a human like all of us,' Swiatek told reporters after meeting her. 'So I was just happy that she's enjoying tennis and she's having this movie with a tennis theme coming out. So that should be really exciting. She can practice with me any time if she wants to.'
