Last week, Buckingham Palace shared a personal post on social media letting people know that Queen Camilla’s beloved pet rescue dog Beth had died. And now, the Queen has received some advice from a fellow dog lover, who also happens to be the future Queen’s brother.
James Middleton wrote a piece for the Sunday Times newspaper this weekend in which he detailed several tips for coping with losing a beloved pet. Entitled, “Losing a pet is hard. Here’s my advice to the Queen,” James’s piece included tips such as marking their passing and not rushing into getting another pet.
Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life
Kate’s younger brother, 37, has become one of the country’s most high-profile dog owners after his book Meet Ella about his relationship with his cocker spaniel was published. He credited Ella with saving his life as he battled depression.
Through the book and its associated publicity, James has departed from the Middleton family’s long-standing tight-lipped stance when it comes to sharing details of their life behind closed doors. However, he has remained notably careful about what he reveals and is full of praise for his parents and sisters. In an interview with BBC’s Saturday Live radio program this weekend, he described his family as “incredibly supportive."
“I can’t fault my upbringing, my parents did the absolute best for me. And that’s really what I want to do for my son Inigo,” he said about the child he shares with wife Alizee. Speaking about his 14-month-old son’s love of dogs, he told the program, “He loves the dogs. I think he’s spent the first 14 months of his life thinking that he is a dog. He’s been on all fours for a long time. He’s now on two feet and he’s the same height as the dogs now. Every morning when we come downstairs we open the door and he goes charging in to see the dogs.”
