Jason Momoa’s Crochet Cardigans Are Handmade—and the Artist Calls Him a "Blessing"

There are many reasons to love Jason Momoa. He’s an entertaining actor, a Hawaiian heartthrob, an environmentalist, and, as it turns out, a wonderful human who credits artists and small businesses for their work—something many celebrities fail to do in person, let alone on social media.
As you may have seen from the now-viral A Minecraft Movie press tour coverage, Jason outfitted himself and co-star Jack Black in matching colorful crocheted cardigans, which he was quick to point out were made by Treat Yo Self Crochet. To say that Tosha Marie, the Etsy stitcher behind the small business, was elated would be an understatement.
“Jason has been amazing since the beginning,” Tosha tells Country Living, revealing that he first reached out to her on Instagram in the fall of 2023 after he saw one of her friends wearing one of her crocheted designs at his Meili Vodka event in St. Louis. “He has always given me a shoutout when he has my pieces on. He has truly been a blessing to my business. Every time he wears his cardigans my business goes crazy. Because of his amazingness, he gets put at the top of my list every time he orders and my customers are always understanding.”
Since meeting in 2023, Jason has ordered several of Tosha’s crocheted masterpieces. “He wore the pastel cardigan in the photoshoot he did for SNL in November 2023, and he contacted me in December of 2024 to make him and Jack Black the cardigans they would wear for the press tour for A Minecraft Movie,” she shares.
While fans of Tosha’s work can purchase custom pieces on Instagram, via email, and through some Facebook groups she’s a part of, she reserves her Etsy for selling the patterns she’s perfected.
“I really like the hexagon cardigan, but didn't like the bubbly sleeves that happen when they are created,” she tells us. “I was able to create the pattern in a way that gave a tapered sleeve which is much more custom looking.”
Of course, if you don’t know how to crochet, there’s always the option to DM Tosha and request a custom order. “When working with a customer, if they are looking for colors I haven't put together before, I have sample pictures of them together so we can work together to get the colors exactly as they want,” Tosha says. “These pieces are custom and people pay a lot for them, so I want to make sure they get exactly what they want.”
Speaking of price, Tosha doesn’t advertise her rates. “My pieces vary in price because they change based on demand,” she says. “I have so many orders on my list right now that I’m booked out four months at this point. But I’m very reasonable. I only ask for half of the amount as a deposit to get materials, and the other half is due when I finish the piece. Shipping in the US is a flat fee of $15, but when I ship out of the country I charge the exact amount so I don’t over or undercharge.”
