Jenna Ortega put a Victorian twist on the underwear-as-outerwear trend at the Emmys

Jenna Ortega is nominated at the 75th Emmy Awards for her iconic performance in season one of Netflix's Wednesday where she plays the even more iconic titular character, Wednesday Addams. So it was no surprise to see her arrive on the red carpet at the ceremony's proceedings but what was surprising – in the *very* best way – was her look for the occasion.

Having repped many Wednesday Addams-inspired outfits, Jenna's style has become synonymous with her character's trademark goth aesthetic but she couldn't have strayed further from that lane in THE most gorgeous strapless Dior gown.

Opting instead for old-fashioned romance with a French flair (this is Dior Haute couture we're talking about, after all) the structured dress resembled a Victorian-era hoop skirt in a look we're calling crinoline chic. Constructed from nude-coloured subtly see-through fabric with the boning of the design clearly visible, it's a historical twist on the underwear-as-outerwear trend and we are here for it.

Embroidered floral motifs that looked like they were climbing up vines finished the look to perfection.

Jenna has been nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series alongside Christina Applegate for Dead to Me, Rachel Brosnahan for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary, and Natasha Lyonne for Poker Face.

Jenna's nomination follows reports the young actress will also be producing alongside starring in season two of Wednesday. She told Variety, "We had already been throwing out so many ideas, and I’m somebody who’s very hands on. I want to know what’s going on. And with a character like Wednesday, who is so beloved and such a legend, I just really didn’t want to get her wrong. So I try to have as many conversations as possible. "

"On set, with the writers and Tim [Burton], we all would get together and decide, ‘Okay, what works and what doesn’t?’ It was naturally already very collaborative. So in preparation for a second season, we wanted to get ahead of the curve and make sure that we could start the conversations earlier. And I’m just so curious. I want to see the outfits, new characters that are coming in, scripts, and they were gracious enough to let me put the producer hat on."

Truuuuuly cannot wait.
