Jenna Ortega's Venice Film Festival gown took 600 hours to make
Jenna Ortega was a vision in scarlet as she arrived at the highly anticipated world premiere of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice on the opening night of the Venice Film Festival.
The actress turned heads as she walked into the Palazzo del Cinema, wearing a striking custom Dior Couture gown that matched the red carpet. The top of the dress was made up of gauzy layers that fell in a heart shape across the bodice. It was held together by dainty spaghetti straps, which left the back entirely open.
The base of the dress was a voluminous floor-length tulle skirt that fell in several sheer layers. In total, the piece required 600 hours of work in the Dior Couture atelier.
Underneath, Ortega wore small red hotpants to match. It was a modern take on red-carpet glamour, and a sartorial nod to the red wedding dress that Winona Ryder wore as Lydia Deetz in the original film.
Ortega continued the scarlet colour scheme with a pair of silky sky-high platforms, as well as a dramatic smoky eye and a bright red lip. To add some extra film festival sparkle, added a Bois de Rose necklace, made up of ethereal branch-like segments, with matching bracelet and rings in white gold, pink gold and diamonds, all by Dior Joaillerie.
The actress wore her hair in an elegant low bun, with her wispy bangs framing her face. She joined her co-stars, including Winona Ryder, Monica Bellucci and Catherine O’Hara, as well as director Tim Burton, on the red carpet for their big night.
The 81st Venice International Film Festival, which celebrates the best of cinema, kicked off on 28 August and will run until 7 September.
