Jennifer Garner's genius KitchenAid mixer attachment is down to its best price of 2024

The KitchenAid Sifter + Scale takes care of baking's most tedious tasks — making holiday treats just got a lot easier.

Ask any baker which part of prep they dread the most, and there's a good chance you'll hear, "sifting flour." It's certainly one of my least favorite tasks; as someone who used to make a living baking in a professional kitchen, I've had to do my fair share of de-clumping. That said, there is a way to avoid doing this un-fun step yourself. Take a tip from none other than Jennifer Garner: The actress posted an Instagram video as part of her "Pretend Cooking Show" series that shows her using the KitchenAid Sifter + Scale Attachment.

Yes, it's a mouthful, but this kooky-looking device is actually quite genius. It hooks onto your KitchenAid stand mixer and weighs/sifts flour so you don't have to. That alone makes it worth adding to your cart, but get this — it's currently on rare sale at Amazon, meaning it'll save you time, effort and money.

If you, like me, are looking at a month of holiday baking, adding this to your cart would be a wise move. Keep scrolling to see why it takes the (literal and figurative) cake.

Smoother frostings and fluffier cakes await, thanks to this little multitasker.

Why is it a good deal? 💰

Our price trackers tell us that this is the lowest this attachment has been on sale for all year; in fact, the last time it dipped any lower was back in 2019! With that in mind, we don't anticipate it dropping more than this in the near future, so you'd be wise to add it to your cart during this rare deal.

Why do I need this? 🤔

Sifting isn't fun, but it is necessary if you want to ensure your baked goods don't wind up containing little balls of flour or powdered sugar that weren't properly mixed in. By taking this extra step, you'll improve the texture and taste of your homemade goodies.

In her Instagram reel, Garner demos a cookie recipe using the KitchenAid Sifter + Scale Attachment. "There's a lot of sifting involved in this recipe," she explains. "You can do it this way," she adds while attempting to pass ingredients through a mesh strainer, "or you just use this handy little attachment, which will weigh and sift."

Using the attachment — which is compatible with all KitchenAid stand mixers — couldn't be easier. Just scoop your flour (or sugar) into the opening and the digital scale will weigh it out. There's a tare function to zero out the measurement when you need to add a new ingredient, and the canister can hold up to four cups of dry ingredients at a time. Once you've reached the amount you need, just turn the knob on the side and the machine will start sifting, gradually adding everything to your mixer's bowl. Since it goes slowly, you won't have to worry about a big poof of powder getting into your eyes!

What reviewers say 💬

More than 1,800 Amazon customers think this tool is pretty sweet — sweet enough to warrant a perfect five-star rating, in fact.

Pros 👍

"As a baker, I can tell you there's nothing more tedious than having to sift everything," shared a pastry pro. "This little gadget is so worth its weight in gold! You can measure and sift in your dry ingredients with ease ... and you don't get the 'cloud effect' because it slowly adds your ingredients. LOVE this!"

"This changed the way I bake!" exclaimed another fan. "No more powdery mess! Not to mention the smooth texture of the cookie batter! I won’t bake without it again!"

"My elderly mom makes a mean Texas cake, and having to sift flour by crank had become too tiring," explained a third. "She wasn't able to bake very often. I had bought a battery-operated sifter, but ... it didn't work. This was a gift to her ... She loves it. Now to buy myself one..."

Cons 👎

"I love the steady addition of flour to the bowl," wrote a generally satisfied buyer. "It is not necessary to stop mixing and scrape down the sides or bottom. ... Like other users, I do wish you could use it without the scale, but that's not a dealbreaker at all. I'm still learning how to get all the flour out of the sifter before I remove it, but that will come with practice."

"One of the best inventions ever, I loved it," raved a final shopper, adding, "The scale could be a little bit stronger."

Here's an overhead view to show how this contraption works — pretty nifty! (Er, sift-y?)
