Jennifer Lopez definitely has a manicure comfort zone. The star loves a nude or nude-adjacent set, which makes sense given her super-busy schedule. She's always hopping between premieres and photoshoots and press appearances, so she needs a manicure that can work with any outfit, anytime. She's also known for her longtime love of the classic nude lip. While Lopez does dabble in other shades from time to time the nude nail is her go-to, but she flipped the script for the Wicked premiere in favor of something a little more magical and mystical.
For the Los Angeles premiere of the Broadway musical turned movie, Lopez gave her milky manis and nude nails the night off in favor of what manicurist Tom Bachik called a “moonstone” manicure, reminiscent of the mesmerizing gemstone. The shade was still soft and subtle, but instead of a pinky-white or skin-tone shade, Lopez and Bachik opted for a cool, shape-shifting, ultra-pale blue. To get the look, Bachik applied Après Nail's Gel-X extensions in a squared-off coffin shape, then used a chrome powder atop the extension for that lit-from-within glow.
Lopez's exact shade is coming soon, as Bachik is launching his own line of “Cosmic Chrome” toppers, but until then you could get a similar look with Essie's Nail Art Studio Special Effects polish in Ethereal Escape or ILNP's Rainshower.
The actor-singer-dancer is one of our favorite mani trendsetters and we're always paying attention to what's on Lopez's nails. It seems as though stars are embracing shimmery, prismatic shades in a fresh, new way this season, like Hailey Bieber's glowing cinnamon spice set and Selena Gomez's “cosmic silver gloss” nails, also done by Bachik. Beyoncé added some sweet “Mom” nail art to her opalescent mani, and Megan Thee Stallion channeled Cinderella with her frosted glass nails. So as we head into the holiday season, why not follow J.Lo's lead and change up your usual color routine in favor of something unexpected?
