As you may or may not have noticed, several clips from Newlyweds—the iconic early aughts show starring Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey—have been making their way around TikTok, and Nick isn’t exactly coming off great. Like...just gonna...leave this here:

So, what does Jessica have to say about Nick’s turn as a TikTok villain? Pretty much ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. No, really, she was asked about the videos during an interview with Bustle, who put it this way:

“When I explain that TikTokers now discovering the show see Nick as the villain—not the long-suffering, stand-up husband he was seen as in the aughts—she offers a better-late-than-never shrug."

Jessica then mused, “It’s amazing what publicity can do” re: the initial good impression viewers had of him when the show came out.

I mean, she said what she said.

Reminder that back in March 2021, Jessica dropped the paperback edition of her memoir, Open Book and included new diary entries about Nick moving on with Vanessa Lachey, writing, “So, Nick, you’re with another already? Seems that you forgot the love you spoke to me....I’m saddened beyond belief. Alone in the dark, with no one to call my own.”

Meanwhile, Nick told Us Weekly that he hasn’t read a “single word” of Jessica’s memoir and that “no, she did not reach out before it was published.”
