Jill Biden Wears Symbolic Head-to-Toe Blue on Her Last Day as First Lady
With Donald Trump’s impending inauguration tomorrow, today marks Joe Biden‘s last days as President of the United States and Jill Biden‘s final day as First Lady. To mark the occasion, Jill Biden wore an ensemble that doubled as a tribute to the democratic party.
Jill suited up in blue from head-to-toe — the identifying color of the democratic party, which has become a staple for the First and Second Lady throughout the years. Jill’s farewell outfit consisted of a monochromatic pairing of a skirt suit with a belted long-sleeve top and an overcoat with a notched lapel she wore draped around her. Jill completed her look with tonal suede high-heel pumps, pearls at her wrist, and pearl stud earrings.

Joe, meanwhile, wore a navy suit with a white button-up shirt and a tie with a diagonal red and blue striped pattern.
Jill’s royal blue suit is similar to the look she wore to the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics this past July. For the occasion, Jill opted for a pastel blue tailored top with a belt at the waist and a matching midi skirt with color-coordinated pointed-toe high-heel pumps.
She was dressed by Ralph Lauren for the event, who also dressed the Olympic and Paralympic athletes for both the opening and closing ceremony parades as well as the flag bearers. Made in the U.S., the uniforms blended inspiration from the host city of Paris and American patriotism.
Jill also opted to wear Ralph Lauren at the designer’s spring 2025 runway show in the Hamptons this past September. She attended the event in Ralph Lauren Collection’s Beckman blazer personalized with a sparkling brooch and paired it with matching trousers and pumps.
Ralph Lauren has been a favorite for Jill throughout her tenure as First Lady. She also wore a look from the label in August while departure from the White House to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in a purple double-breasted blazer by Ralph Lauren Collection.
In one of Joe Biden’s final acts, the president handed out a Presidential Medal of Freedom to Ralph Lauren, among other recipients, at the top of the year. The executive chairman and chief creative officer of Ralph Lauren Corp. made history as the first designer to receive this honor, and told WWD of the event, “America is my country — my home and its history, traditions and values have always been an inspiration. To receive the Presidential Media of Freedom conferred personally by the President of the United States is an honor of a lifetime. As a proud American citizen, I accept it with gratitude and great humility.”
