Jinger Duggar Vuolo Details 4-Year-Old Daughter Evangeline's Recent ER Visit: 'A Little Bit of a Scare'
"I think that the thing that really caught us off guard was that she was not sick at all before," Jinger shared of her daughter’s medical scare
Jinger Duggar Vuolo and her husband Jeremy Vuolo are opening up about their 4-year-old daughter Evangeline’s recent medical scare.
On the latest episode of The Jinger & Jeremy Podcast, the couple — who is expecting their third child — detailed rushing Evangeline to the emergency room during a trip to Texas.
The Counting On alum, 30, shared that they had “a little issue with one of our kids,” adding, “[Evangeline] ended up in the E.R. and it was a little bit of a scare…Those things happen and you have to take the curveballs as they come. Thankfully, she was OK.”
“She just had a little episode of something, where a doctor even thought maybe she had inhaled something and aspirated a piece of food and it might have been lodged in there,” she added. “By the time she got a steroid and all, she was breathing well again.”
Jeremy, 37, recalled realizing that his daughter needed medical attention after hearing her cough.
“I heard her cough. It’s 10:30 at night,” he said. “It’s almost like a Croup cough. I run into her room … and she is, kind of, hunched over [and] struggling to breathe and the cough was, like, difficult to come in and breathe out. So, I grab her and run out [to go to the hospital].”
“That was just a really scary feeling, just having her breathing not being well,” Jinger added. “I think with that we weren’t sure if it was asthma [and] if it was something like that because you had asthma as a kid.”
After doctors run start tests, Jeremy noted that “she was OK, she was stable.”
“She wasn’t turning blue; that’s the thing I was looking for, too, and the thing that’s scary about asthma is your breathing starts to get constricted so it becomes less and less and that can happen quickly,” he added.
The medical scare came as a surprise to the couple. Jinger explained, “I think that the thing that really caught us off guard was that she was not sick at all before. She had the best day — no signs of cold, no signs of anything that would have led you to think, ‘Oh she's sick.’”
“We were really thankful that she was able to do well,” she added. “They just gave her a steroid and said if it was Croup, maybe it would help. Whatever they gave her, it helped her so much and we still don’t know exactly what it was.”
The pair hope to “get to the bottom of” what caused the incident and get more tests to rule out asthma or allergies.

The medical scare comes two months after the couple — who are also parents to daughter Felicity, 6 — exclusively shared with PEOPLE that they are expecting their third child.
The former reality star is due in March 2025 and she previously told PEOPLE how "excited" the pair are for the baby's arrival.

Jeremy explained that while the news "was something we were expecting," he "was still shocked."
"When she told me, I was literally speechless," he added. "She got me good. It was on Felicity's birthday. Jinger says, 'I've got a gift for you.' It was in an Amazon bag. So I'm thinking, 'What did she get from Amazon for me?' Then I open it up and it's the positive result, and I'm actually speechless."
