Joanna Gaines Reminisces on Sweet Family Tradition in Emotional Video
Joanna Gaines is reminiscing on just how fast her sons are growing up, and she’s bringing her Instagram followers along for the emotional ride.
As a refresher, Chip and Joanna have five kids: Drake (19), Ella (17), Duke (15), Emmie (14), and Crew (5).
“When each one of our boys turned five, Chip would take them on a train ride to San Antonio, Texas,” she revealed in a caption of a video she posted to Instagram. The video kicks off with throwback Polaroids of Chip with Drake and Duke and continues into video segments of Crew embarking on the adventure with Chip. Throughout the video, Crew can be seen exploring the aquarium, a dinosaur museum exhibit, the dining car of the train, and more. Perhaps most adorably, though, is Crew’s endearing expression when he hops off the train with his dad and runs toward his mama, all smiles with his hands full of treasures from his trip.
“I love this tradition so much,” Joanna continued in the caption. “The older boys still remember all the stops and the places they visited and the fun memories that were made. So hard to believe how fast time has flown by.”
Getting to relive one of her favorite family traditions—one that Joanna likely thought was fully in the rearview—had to have been quite the heart-warmer. As a reminder, Chip and Joanna weren’t expecting Crew, who came nearly 10 years after their fourth child, Emmie. “Our baby boy, Crew Gaines, is here and we couldn’t be more in love,” Joanna wrote in the caption for a carousel of photos from Crew’s birth. “He made an unexpected (and speedy) entrance into the world two and a half weeks early—which is fitting given he was a sweet surprise from day one. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. We are so grateful.”
