Joanna Gaines’ Simple Trick Will Make Your Holiday Decor Look So High-End
Now that Halloween has come and gone, it’s time to think ahead to the holidays. Joanna Gaines and her Magnolia team just flipped the Waco, Texas, store over to a Christmas theme, and she gave followers a few tips on how to make your garlands and holiday greenery look way more lush and realistic. Hint: It’s all about layering garlands on top of one another.
“Obviously we’re doing it on this structure, but if you want to do this on your mantel, your staircase, on top of a piano, or a console, layer different kinds of greenery,” Gaines said in a recent Instagram video where she’s decorating an in-store display. “And if you want that really fun hit of color, weave in this fun little iced berry.”
A single strand of faux pine garland looks nice, but it may come off as a little limp. Bulking it up with either another strand of the same texture and color or something with a bit of contrast can build up the silhouette and give your holiday garland more impact.
Gaines specifically loves the look of silver pine garlands and stems because of the soft gray-blue tones they bring to an arrangement. “Any time you put red with it, or even this burgundy, it’s such a pretty contrast,” she continued.
Just twist two or more garlands together to create that lushness, and your entire Christmas display will be kicked up a notch.
