New Johnson County burger, craft beer spot in former Red Robin now has an opening date

After months of preparation, Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews will open in Overland Park on May 27.

The retro, car-themed burger spot will operate in a former Red Robin at 7111 W. 95th St. Red Robin closed in 2021 after 15 years of operation.

Hailing from Fargo, North Dakota, Sickies offers 50 types of burgers on its menu, including its Hot Rod burger (jalapeno, spicy mayo,Buffalo sauce and pepper jack cheese) and the Fatboy (kobe beef, peppered bacon, house-made bacon jam and pepper jack cheese).

Sickies also offers wings with a variety of sauces, loaded tater tots and more. It has 50 beers on tap, as well as boozy milkshakes.

Founded in 2012, Sickies has locations in Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Texas, Nevada and Florida.

Last Month, Sickies opened its first Kansas location in Wichita. The restaurant is filled with auto-themed decor, including a rusted pickup truck hanging from the ceiling, according to the Wichita Eagle.

Sickies will open at 11 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on weekends. The company says official hours are still being finalized.
