Jonathan Bailey Smolders in Monochrome White at the Golden Globes
White suits have been having a major moment in recent months. While the style has become a staple of royal ladies like Kate Middleton, tonight on the Golden Globes red carpet, British actor Jonathan Bailey proved than monochrome white suits have ample appeal across genders.
Known for his roles on Bridgerton, as well as Fellow Travelers, which is nominated tonight for Best Miniseries, Anthology or Motion Picture Made for Television, Bailey wowed in a sleek white Givenchy suit with wide-leg trousers, a tone-matched white button down shirt, and simple black loafers. Though the individual pieces were pared back, the overall look made a major impact on the carpet with its unexpected color choice, and the off-handed, confident vibe that Bailey gave off on the carpet.
Bailey first gained international attention with his performance as Lord Anthony Bridgerton on the hit Netflix romance. In the show's second season, he took over a leading role as the romance between Anthony and newcomer Kate Sharma (played by Simone Ashley) took center stage. "The romance genre, rightly so, is being given a platform in Bridgeton that it completely deserves. It's the most joyful, optimistic, expansive narrative that you can absorb yourself into. Of course I believe in that," Bailey told T&C when the second season debuted.
In addition to its nod for Best Miniseries tonight, Matt Bomer, who stars opposite Bailey in the queer period drama, is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television for his role.
