Kate Middleton Is Home From the Hospital
Kate Middleton was admitted to hospital for major abdominal surgery two weeks ago, and at the time Palace aides made it clear that they would not provide ongoing updates on her progress. However, today Kensington Palace made the announcement that she is now home in Windsor where she will continue her recovery for the next few weeks.
“The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress,” the Palace said in a statement at midday in the UK today.
“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”
Kate, 42, will be surrounded by her family including Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis as she recuperates at their home Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate. She is not expected to return to public duties until after Easter, but exactly when she makes her next appearance will be determined by medical advice closer to the time.
The Princess was admitted to the London Clinic on Tuesday January 16, with the announcement made the following day once her operation had taken place. The Palace has not disclosed her condition, specifically requesting that her wish be respected for her personal medical information to remain private.
Prince William has also significantly modified his workload to care for his wife and children. He will recommence his public engagements sooner than the Princess, and will do so once Kate’s care and recovery is settled. He was seen visiting the London Clinic while she was there.
The announcement of Kate’s surgery came on the same day that the King announced he would undergo treatment for a benign enlarged prostate. He was admitted to the same London Clinic on Friday for a procedure. Queen Camilla has been seen visiting him there.
