Kate Middleton and Prince William Have Huge News From the Royal Foundation

The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, more commonly called the Royal Foundation, is making a huge donation to frontline workers and mental health initiatives across the U.K., People reports. Earlier this week, Kate Middleton and Prince William had a meeting at Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Estate to announce the foundation's $2 million donation in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the socially distanced talk, Kate and William invited representatives from organizations that will benefit from the foundation's efforts and to let healthcare workers across the country know that they'll get the support they need. The Cambridges also announced the news on Instagram, including a list of all 10 of the organizations that would be getting help.

"Over recent months we have all been in awe of the incredible work that frontline staff and emergency responders have been doing in response to COVID-19, but we know that for many of them, their families, and for thousands of others across the U.K., the pandemic will have a lasting impact on their mental health," Kate said.

"It’s great to hear how The Royal Foundation is supporting you and many others to build resilience and give you the networks you need through its COVID-19 Response Fund," Ailliam added. "Which will help ten leading charities continue their crucial work."

Kate and William have continued to support frontline workers throughout the pandemic with Zoom calls and sharing their own experiences with quarantining. They've also spoken to bereavement specialists, teachers, and more, hoping to share everyone's specific situations so that nobody feels like they can't share their own stories.

"It's been ups and downs, like a lot of families self-isolating. George is much older than Louis is and things, but they are aware, I'm always surprised," Kate told the BBC. "And although you don’t want to scare them and make it too overwhelming, I think it is appropriate to acknowledge it in the simple ways and age-appropriate ways."
