How Kate Middleton and Prince William Are Spending Easter This Year
When the royal family attends church in Windsor for Easter today, Kate Middleton and Prince William won't be with them.
The Wales family attended Easter Sunday services in 2023, but this year, the Prince and Princess of Wales are reported to be spending the Easter holiday privately, at Amner Hall, on the Sandringham Estate. Their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—are currently on Easter holiday from Lambrook School.
Kate, who recently shared her cancer diagnosis publicly, is currently undergoing what she called "preventative chemotherapy." The Princess said in a video message that the diagnosis "came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family." She added, "It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok. As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits."
In her video, Kate asked for "time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment." A day after her announcement, a Kensington Palace spokesperson said the Prince and Princess of Wales "are extremely moved by the public's warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time."
The Palace will not be sharing more details on Kate's cancer diagnosis, or what type of cancer she has. "We will not be sharing any further private medical information," a Palace spokesperson said. "The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do."
