It’s been quite a weekend for royal watching at Wimbledon, with Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Meghan Markle, the newly minted Duchess of Sussex, making an excellent case for sister-in-law outings. But Sunday was date day at the finals for the future king and queen of England, and both Kate and Prince William shone.

William wore a gray plaid jacket and black pants, allowing his wife to shimmer in the knee-legnth yellow Dolce & Gabbana dress. It featured flutter sleeves, and she pinned a tiny plaid bow above her chest. Kate kept her accessories simple with gold hoop earrings, a simple necklace and watch, and the same taupe handbag she carried the day before.

Of course, her stunning engagement ring, also worn by Princess Diana, was on full display.

The parents of three sat in the royal box with British Prime Minister Theresa May, who also chose a bright dress, with a flattering wrap effect.

Was Kate taking a sartorial tip from Meghan? The Duchess of Sussex made a risky (for a young royal) fashion choice in a bright canary yellow dress during her appearance with Prince Harry at the “Your Commonwealth” Youth Challenge Reception in London’s Marlborough House on July 5. Her Brandon Maxwell sheath was met with wide approval and sold out in stores immediately.

Not quite twinning, but the sunny color complements both women’s features and feels so fresh.
