Kate Middleton Spotted in Public for the First Time Since Her Surgery

Since Kate Middleton had abdominal surgery in January, she has not been in the public eye. Apart from two paparazzi photos—one taken of her in a car with her mother, Carole, and another in a car alongside Prince William—and one photo released by Kensington Palace (and the drama that ensued following that photo), the Princess of Wales has not been seen since December.

Today, however, British tabloid the Sun published photos and video of Kate and William at a local farm stand in Windsor, which was taken on Saturday, March 16. Per the paper, "We have chosen to both report her appearance in yesterday's paper, and show the footage today, in a bid to bring an end to what the Palace has called the madness of social media.'"

In the video, which was taken by a man named Nelson Silva, the Prince and Princess of Wales are smiling as they each carry grocery bags. Silva tells the Sun, "I noticed a couple choosing loaves of bread and the woman turned her face and I felt like I had seen the face before. It was familiar. I knew it from somewhere. Then William turned back and I thought 'hold on I know this person'. I said to the staff 'I think it's them' as I paid."

He added, "I went to my car and as they came out of the shop I just filmed them. I think they walked out through a gate out of the grounds. They just vanished and I didn't see a car. I just wanted to share with my family footage and show just how normal they were."

In January, Kensington Palace said, "Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter." Reports this weekend suggested that "after Easter" could, in fact, mean after Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis's Easter break ends on April 17, and no official return to duties for Kate has been set yet.
